This year is marked as legendary poet Bakibab Borkar’s birth centenary year. Keeping this in mind, the Department of Art and culture will be holding a special programme ‘Gadad Tinsana’ on July 8 (death anniversary) at 4.30 p.m. at the Kala Academy black box.
Along with Kala Academy-Goa, Institute of Menezes Braganza and B B Borkar birth centenary committee, the programme will see the participation of eminent Goan literati Pundalik Naik, Vishnu Wagh, Ramesh Veluskar and Ajay Vaidya.
The great poet B B Borkar left an indelible imprint on Goans on account of his much-loved poems which were translated into different languages (Marathi and Konkani) and thus recognised by everyone in the state.
This year, the Art and culture department in association with B B Borkar birth centenary Committee have been organising various programmes to commemorate the occasion. The inaugural of the birth centenary Committee was held on November 29, 2009 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao at the hands of poet Manguesh Padgaonkar and Madhu Manguesh Karnik.
