The third edition of Chota Cinema Centre, a platform for amateur filmmakers presented awards under varied categories of five minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes and above 30 minutes.
Present at the award ceremony was various guests which included the chairperson of Chota Cinema Centre, Mr Janardhan Bhandari, the CEO of the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), Mr Manoj Srivastava, the director of My Australia, Ami Drozd, co-director, Slumdog Millionaire, Loveleen Tandan, actress, Maria and general manager, ESG, Mr Shripad Naik, and others.
In his address, Mr Srivastava said, "We will slowly be able to create a crop of filmmakers’ here." He also announced that the government was intending to build editing studios soon.
Under the five minutes category, ‘I Believe’ directed by Akhil Khandeparkar won the first place. ‘Experiencing Hope’ directed by Jayavanti Loundo bagged second place while the third place went to ‘Mhaka Bai Zai’ directed by Vardhan Dhaimodkar.
The prize for best director in this category went to Akhil Khandeparkar.
In the under 15 minute category, ‘Pensou-do the good’, directed by Milind Kuri won first place. Smart Fone directed by Viji Verhese was awarded second place while the third place went to Swapnil Shetkar’s film ‘Canvassing’. Filmmaker Milind Kuri was adjourned the best director in this category.
The film, ‘Parjanyah’ directed by Yogesh Kapadi in the above 30 minutes category won the first place. The prize compromised a cash award of ` 30,000. ‘Plastic Dhoti’ directed by Rajesh Karekar won the second place and cash prize of `20,000 while the film, ‘Mog’ directed by John Fernandes came third and won the filmmaker ` 10,000. The best director award went to filmmaker, Yogesh Kapadi for the film ‘Parjanyah’.
The award for best actor went to Brian Fenandes for the film, ‘Mog’. Anita Vishwakarma got the best actress award for the film ‘Plastic Dhoti’. The best editor award went to Dharshan Lolyekar for his film, ‘Parjanyah’.
The first prize for the less than 30 minutes category was presented to the film ‘Zuz’ directed by Sandip Deshpande. ‘How I Got Led’ directed by Ashish Ajgaonkar won the second place and the third place went to ‘My Girlfriends Birthday’ directed by Sidhesh Borkar.
The best director award went to Sandip Deshpande for his film, ‘Zuz’. The best actor award was presented to Dhanu Dicholkar for his acting in ‘Zuz’. Sidhesh Borkar bagged the best editor for his film, ‘My Girlfriend’s Birthday’.
