Two books were recently released at the hands of the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat–the first titled ‘Tolstoy’ written by prestigious Jnanpith recipient, Mr Ravidra Kelekar and the other written on Ravindrabab Kelekar by Mr Dilip Borkar which is translated in English by Dr Kiran Budkuley titled ‘Shreyarthee’ (Devotee of the Desirable).

The Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat in his address, commended Ravindrabab Kelekar for his work. Mr Borkar suggested that the government implement a scheme wherein these books may reach the student community of Goa.  Mr Kamat in response to Mr Dilip Borkar’s plea promised that the suggestion given by Mr Borkar would be implemented.
Dr Kiran Budkuley, translator of ‘Shreyarthee’ opined, “It is my privilege to translate a book that reflects our well-known Konkani scholar, linguist, and creative-thinker Ravindrabab. When I got this opportunity from Dilip Borkar the original writer of ‘Shreyarthee’, I was stunned! I would suggest that this book be supplied to colleges as it would help the youth to a great extent. In fact, everyone should read it.”
Further talking about the book ‘Tolstoy’, Professor Madhav Kamat said, “Ravindrabab wrote a beautiful book on Tolstoy’s life story. It is also a must read novel.”
‘Bimb’ has published the two books and the programme was held in collaboration with Kala Academy, Goa and Information and Publicity Department, Government of Goa. This function was held on Wednesday at the Kala Academy’s Black Box.
