Renowned vocalist and guru of the Agra Gharana, Pt Kamlakar B Naik from Goa will be honoured today at 4 p.m. at the Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Kala Academy,

Panaji at a grand felicitation ceremony organised by the Pt Kamlakar Naik Shasthyabdipurti felicitation committee for his meritorious contribution to the field of Hindustani classical music.
The Pt Kamlakar Naik Shasthyabdipurti Felicitation Committee had been constituted by his disciples, friends and well-wishers under the chairmanship of ex-union minister, Adv Ramakant Khalap. The Committee has organised this felicitation in collaboration with the Directorate of Art and Culture, Goa and the Kala Academy, Adv Avdhut Nayak Sallatri, the working president of the felicitation committee, informed at a press conference.
Pt Naik will be felicitated at the hands of Talyogi Pt Sursh Talwalkar, tabla maestro of international repute. Padmashri Pt Ulhas Kashalkar, a renowned vocalist of the Gwalier Gharana will be the guest of honour and the ceremony will be presided over by Padmashri Pt Prasad Sawkar, a senior stage artiste. Writer poet, Vishnu Wagh will be the chief speaker on this occasion.
A souvenir ‘Swarsidhi’ comprising of various articles written by reputed personalities on the achievement and contribution of Pt Naik in the field of Hindustani classical music will be released at the hands of Pt Prasad Sawkar. After the felicitation programme there will be a vocal concert by Pt Ulhas Kashalkar, of the Gwalier Gharana. He will be accompanied on the tabla by Talyogi Pt Suresh Talwalkar, and on the harmonium by Mr Suyog Kundalkar of Pune.
Pt Ulhas  Kashalkar is the disciple of Pt Ram Marathe and Pt Gajananrao Joshi. He is a renowned guru at the Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkatta and has trained a number of artistes of national repute. Recently, the Government of India, honoured him with the Padmashri.
Pt Suresh Talwalkar is a renowned tabla player. He is the disciple of Pt Phandharinath Nageshkar from Goa. He has also received guidance in tabla from Pt Vinayakbuwa Ghangrekar. Both Pt Kashalkar and Pt Talwalkar have also been honoured with the Sangeet Natak Academy award. Before the actual felicitation programme there will be a vocal recital by Prachala Amonkar, a senior disciple of Pt Kamlakar Naik at 4 p.m. She will be accompanied on the tabla by Dayanand Kandolkar and Subhash Fatarpekar on the harmonium. The programme is open to all the music lovers.
