Creative Extravaganza

MARGAO: Sixty finalists, all students from the world over, including India, were selected from among 7 lakh participants, all of who had created amazing works of art and craft based on the theme ‘My Mother, My World’.

The creativity displayed by the children, some as young as five, impressed one and all, while the students had fun manifesting their creativity.
But in any competition there are winners and losers.
The Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat announced the winners of the International Art and Craft Contest 09, the annual art and craft extravaganza, organised by Pidilite Industries Ltd, at a glittering ceremony held at the Kenilworth Beach Resort and Spa, Utorda.
The winners were awarded prizes ranging from laptops to home theatre systems by Ms Asha Kamat. The winning art teachers and schools were also awarded prizes for nurturing creative talent.
The jury included eminent personalities from the field of Art – Mr Vishal Pai Cacode, Mr Domnic Cordo, Mr Deepak Gaad, Mr Shridhar Kamat Bambolkar and Mahendra Chodankar.
Speaking at the function, the Chief Minister encouraged the students and appreciated the creativity and imagination of the school children. Commenting on the fact that this is the first time that the event has moved out of Mumbai to Goa, he requested Pidilite India Ltd to continue hosting the International Art and Craft Contest in Goa on a regular basis.
