The month long Semana Da Cultura Indo-Portuguesa (Goa)celebrations began today with an evening of art and music at Sunaparanta, Altinho, Panaji. The soiree involved an exhibition by eminent artist Vamona Navelcar. The selection for this exhibition is designed to provide a kaleidoscopic view of the artist’s immense body of work.
Over forty paintings will be on display at Sunaparanta between October 22 and 31 for public viewing all through the day.
Anil Counto, Chairman of the Executive Committeesaid, “Semana Da Cultura Indo-Portuguesa (Goa) celebrates diverse cultures; the languages, architecture, art, literature, music and other elements. Goa has assimilated the essence of both regions where people coexist in harmony and joy. We are honoured to begin our celebrations by an exhibition by Goa’s eminent artist Vamona Navelcar.”
Chief Guest, Justice Eric Silva said that he was honoured to be invited to an event of such stature and praised artist Vamona Navelcar for his contribution to art.
The evening hosted a special performance by the popular emissary of Goan-Portuguese music, Emiliano and his trio, who strummed a selection of popular tunes.
