The art gallery of Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji will from today host a caricature exhibition by artist, Mr Bharat Jagtap. It will feature more than 1400 works of the Belgaum-based artist, made over the last 20 years.
The exhibition will be formally inaugurated by Mr Prasad Lolyekar, Director, Department of Art and Culture at 11 a.m.
Speaking at the press briefing, Mr Jagtap stated that this is his first exhibition in Goa. He will display all his caricatures at the exhibition. He further added that being an illustrator in a Marathi daily gave him the opportunity to do draw caricatures.
His caricatures include personalities from different fields, right from politicians to sportsmen and are known for the peculiarities of the features.
Mr Jagtap further mentioned that he works with different forms and is not restricted to caricatures only. He also does paintings and specialises in masks and murals. He continues to experiment in different media of metals and synthetics. Of a studious nature he loves to experiment with new ideas and was recently awarded the “Utkrusht Balvangmai Puraskar—2009” a state level award in Pune, Maharashtra.
His work will be on display at art gallery of Institute Menezes Braganza till April 29.
