Normally, the rains prevent people from indulging in outdoors activities. But if you come to the enchanting waterfall, called ‘Bamonbuddo’, you are bound to be smitten by its beauty so much so that the monsoons will not come in your way of trekking to beautiful sights like these. Seated at the feet of Ambheghat, in Gaondongrem, Canacona, this waterfall is a wonderful spot where hundreds of picnickers, both locals and tourists, vist, especially at this time of the year.
The best time to visit the waterfall is from mid-June to mid-September because this is the time when it is in full splendour. It slowly dries up in October as it has no continuous water source apart from the monsoon waters.
The numbers at this place increase particularly on Saturdays and Sundays as people from neighbouring states flock here. “Sometimes there is no place to even park your vehicles,” says the local panch. As a result of which people park their vehicles on the road, which blocks the flow of vehicular and pedestrian travel. Considering the tourist potential, the former MLA from Poinguinnim, Mr Isidore Fernandes suggested that the place be developed but the proposal still remains a dream.
Nearby is another waterfall at Kuskem in Cotigao village, which also attracts tourists and adventure-lovers. Schools, environmentalists, nature-lovers trek here often informs a forest guard stationed nearby. The only hurdle in getting to this place is that it doesn’t have a proper access route. One has to walk through unsafe and thick vegetation.
It’s really a treat to watch as it is one of the highest waterfalls of Goa.
