2012!! Fashion Trends for Men

Men’s fashion week ended just a few days ago. Yes, we mostly talk about women fashion, but we don’t want to stay away from men’s fashion either. Who said women have all the fun when it comes to fashion. Men gear up and enjoy this trendy adventure

ALL THINGS BRIGHT: Designer colour forecasts are harping big time on all bright shades like pink, magenta, lime, green, orange, red and purple. The usual winter colours are used less or totally abandoned. Instead the whole collection is a bright colour party with the use of more spring and summer colours from hot pink to flash blue. One colour to watch out for this year is mustard gold. Mixed with ivory or metallic tones it sure is going to be a chic combo. Plain colours are definitely on their way out. Indian designer Ashish Soni's collection epitomises the look with a punch of citrus hues.  Remember to mix and match your brights with some sober neutrals. You don’t want yourself looking over the top! If you’re not that brave enough to pull off challenging hues then opt for classics accessories like an orange silk tie or stripped coloured socks. These add that zing and zaniness to your look. Fresh and fun.
LESS IS MORE: Since fashion seems to be in a flirtatious mood, Men's fashion is also set for a transformation. They can look forward to a strong trend of jackets and business formals. Lots of plays on lengths in both men's and women's wear at the fashion weeks in 2012. This means shorter jackets and cropped trousers. Yes, I know, not all men can wear cropped trousers, but with longer kurtas and sherwanis, they look terrific and often elongate the leg. Probably the most fashion forward trend of the year. So feel free to break the norm and experiment.
CHECKS PLEASE: While resort wear is predicted to be another favoured trend for both men and women, abstracts or checks will replace the floral patterns. It is not all about solids. For working men, plaids are a great option. Checks consist of crossed horizontal and vertical bands in two or more colours in woven cloth. This season, there are large plaids and small plaids seen at Gucci, Louis Vuitton. Plaid shirts always look professional, Go with the classics, and you won’t go wrong.
JACKETS: Smoking jackets are in vogue, another classic making a comeback is the double breasted jacket. Having made a mark at fashion weeks after a long absence this trend made a mark at the runways of Gucci, Prada. Every man must have one of these in their wardrobe for daytime dressing. Double breasted jackets look better on broader men. So if you are slim and still want to enjoy this retro feel that fashion has in 2012, try a three button jacket.
This year men’s fashion styles will be more diverse and interesting. Men’s fashion seems to have turned to masculinity again. Men, take the plunge and enjoy this adventurous ride called fashion!!
