ICSI celebrates July as student month

Goa’s company secretaries are in motivating mode. With hospital facing shortage of blood, the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), Goa, are trying to eliminate the shortage by encouraging more youths for blood donation. As part of ICSI student month activity and jointly with Goa branch of Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI), members organized a small blood donation camp at the ICAI office, Patto.

Members also celebrated Van Mahotsava by distributing fruit saplings to students and highlighting the importance of forestation. They took a pledge to plant more and more trees and tend trees as one of the best ways to prevent global warming and reduce pollution. “Student month was initiated in 2016 with the objective of focusing on personality development of our stakeholders and to create a link between the students and the institute. The overall development of the student community through various non-academic activities is essential. The students of the company secretary course are being groomed for their social responsibilities,” said, Shweta Kharangate, chairperson, ICSI.

Members are hopeful that the ethos which is being seeded in the young generation will lead to a phenomenal change in the society at large.  “These citizens of tomorrow should realize the importance of afforestation, blood donation, physical fitness for all round development and to become a matured and competent professional,” added Kharangate.
