Tourism Minister, Manohar Ajgaonkar laid the foundation stone for the development of hinterland tourism providing the entrance arch, illumination and signages at Pernem.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajgaonkar informed that the road from the municipal garden to Viscount School, Pernem is very narrow and also does not have proper illumination, footpath. The project will include road widening, pedestrian track, proper lighting which is needed for the locals as well as tourist for safety, he added.
Ajgaonkar further said, “Cooperation and support from the people is a must if we want Pernem taluka to be developed.” He pointed out that, various development works are soon to be carried out in different parts like the beautification work in Varkhand, international stadium, Mopa airport, hot mixing of roads in Dhargal.
Present on the occasion were Shradha Mashelkar, chairperson, Pernem Municipal Council, Prashant Gadekar, vice chairperson, Dr.Vasudev Deshprabhu, former chairperson, Bharat Gawade ,sarpanch, Virnoda, Aparna Parab, deputy sarpanch, Virnoda, Pashuram Kakodkar, former MLA ,Pramod Badami, senior engineer, Pandurang Parab,former president, zilla panchayat and councillors.
