BENAULIM: The trinity ground in Benaulim is witness to a flood of goal in the ongoing Junior Girls National Football Championship with Himachal Pradesh hammering Gujarat 6-0 on the third day.
A hat trick by skillful and speedy striker Nisha and a goal each by captain Anju, medio Kiran and substitute striker Meenu Dutta enabled Himachal Pradesh hammer Gujarat 6-0 on Wednesday.
Gelling well in all departments, Himachal Pradesh attacked right from the start and scored in the very 2nd minute through Nisha, whose stiff grounder off a cross from the left flank by captain Anju gave no chance to Gujarat goalkeeper Simran Chaudhary to stop the ball from entering the nets.
In the next minute, Nisha completed her brace when she dodged two rival defenders after Kiran passed the ball to her.
Himachal Pradesh came up charging up thereafter and they had the Gujarat defense struggling to contain the fast moving rival strikers who camped inside the box.
Himachal Pradesh came up with raids after raids and even though Gujarat team defended well for some time, they conceded another goal in the 28th, scored by rival captain Anju.
With this action, the teams trooped out for the lemon break.
The second session belonged largely to Himachal Pradesh with Gujarat putting up a semblance of a fight back which fizzled out again as Himachal Pradesh began to mesmerise their opponents with smart passes and positional play.
The Gujarat defense and midfield appeared to be static and as such their strike force was left starving for the ball upfront.
Himachal Pradesh scored three more goals in the second session through attacking medio Kiran which came in the 70th minute and then Nisha completed her hat trick of goals in the 73rd minute when she banged the ball to the far corner of rival nets.
Five minutes from the final hooter, substitute Meenu Dutta scored the 6th goal for Himachal Pradesh to humiliate Gujarat.
Meanwhile in the morning, Manipur defeated Chhattishgarh 4-0. Usham Chanu scored a brace for Manipur, while the other two goals were scored by Y Papki Devi and L Bebydolly Devi.
