CUNCOLIM: Minister for Archaeology Vijai Sardesai announced plans of organising a heritage festival in the state in the month of February.
Speaking at the induction of Yuri Alemao into the Goa Forward Party, Sardesai said, “In February, we want to organise a heritage festival and have it in Fatorda and Chandor. We will work along with Joaquim Alemao and Yuri Alemao to have it in Chandor as well as a model heritage village. Yes, there is more heritage in Chandor, but we will do it on a sharing model to make it successful.”
The Minister made the statement in connection with the recent decision to de-notify state highway 8 which locals objected passing through their village. Sardesai informed the gathering that though the PWD and other departments had objected to the de-notification of the highway without an alternative route, he said he was with the people in their demand.
Sardesai also said plans were underway to designate the coconut tree as the state tree.
