High Court of Bombay at Goa has dismissed an appeal in a double murder case, wherein Norman Fernandes, the convict in St Cruz double murder case who has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the District and Sessions Court, Panaji had challenged the conviction before the High Court.
The High Court observed that the trial court has correctly appreciated the facts and the evidence on record and reached a proper conclusion that the prosecution has established its case beyond all reasonable doubts not only on the basis of the evidence of the eyewitnesses but also of the injured Edgar Vaz from which it has been established that on account of property dispute, the appellant had a grudge against the victims and, therefore, he had committed the offences alleged. We, therefore, do not find any reason to interference with the impugned judgment and order of conviction.
It may be noted that on September 2, 2013, Norman had killed his sister Noreen Fernandes e Vaz and her mother-in-law Aurita Anes e Vaz, while attempting to kill his sister’s husband Edgar Vaz. The crime occurred over a property dispute.
