The Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM), on Saturday, announced that it will contest both the Lok Sabha seats in the state in the upcoming elections. The party will be also contesting 35 assembly seats during the next election.
Both the announcements were made during the party workers’ meet held in Mapusa.
Prominent party leaders including Subhash Velingkar, party president Atmaram Gaokar, Nandan Sawant, Advocate Roshan Sawant, Abhay Samant, Kishor Raut, Sunil Methar, Paresh Raikar and others attended the meeting.
Addressing the gathering, GSM leader and former RSS Goa chief Velingkar said, “We will contest both North Goa and South Goa seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, and will be strengthening our booth level committees and will also be contesting 35 assembly seats.”
Hitting out at the BJP over the agitation held by mining dependents in New Delhi, Velingkar said that “the government has been giving only false assurances to 3.5 lakh mining dependants, and same was witnessed in New Delhi. No central leader of BJP or even MP visited the mining dependants during their agitation.”
