Green Triangle Society confers annual awards

Green Triangle Society (GTS), a non-government organization, committed to the promotion of occupational safety, health and environment within the industrial community, held its 16th conference at Hotel Mandovi,themed on “Synergetic action for energetic fruition.” The conference was inaugurated by  Gowind Jaiswal, secretary for Factories and Boilers. Jaiswal emphasized on importance of preventing hazards in day- to- day life rather than trying to mitigate the consequences. Vivek Marathe, chief inspector of Factories and Boilers and Manguirish Pai Raikar, chairperson, Green Triangle Society, also spoke.

The conference received an overwhelming response with more than 150 delegates participating in it. Green Triangle awards was given on October 26 with south Goa, MP, Narendra Sawaikar as the chief guest. Sawaikar emphasized that growth should go hand in hand with compliance to statutory norms and beyond, only then can there be real progress of the country.

The awards were given in four categories based on the number of employees. Winners in Category A are Mandovi Distilleries & Breweries, Zuari Indian Oiltanking Pvt. Ltd., Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. Category B winners were Esteem Industries, Betts India  and Merck India Ltd. Winners of Category C were    Vedanta Ltd ( Pig Iron Division-II), Cadila Healthcare Ltd., and Vedanta Ltd ( Pig Iron Division). In Category D the winners were Zuari Agro Chemicals, Deccan Fine Chemicals (Indi) Pvt. Ltd and Nestle India Ltd.
