The first state executive committee meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s newly elected Minority Morcha passed a resolution stating that the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar-led government has been proactive in providing different welfare schemes and development projects benefitting all sections of the society.
“However, the opposition Congress and other parties by their divisive and negative propaganda are creating fear in the minds of the minorities,” it stated, pointing out that the Congress and other opposition parties have always used the minorities as a permanent ‘vote bank’ to achieve their power-hungry political agenda, but always neglected their welfare in spite of being in power for a very long period.
The resolution further congratulated the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for coming out with many national schemes for the minorities.
The meeting held at the city party headquarters on Thursday under the presidentship of Sheikh Jina Nabi was attended by the South Goa Member of Parliament Narendra Sawaikar and BJP MLAs namely Glenn Ticlo and Alina Saldanha.
Meanwhile, the state BJP unit maintained that it does not consider caste and religion of its partymen as criteria while assigning them higher posts.
“We never go by caste and religion as anybody can hold higher position in the party and our government on merit,” said the spokesperson of the state BJP, Dattaprasad Naik while responding to the recent statement made by the Minister for Rural Development Agency Jayesh Salgaonkar that the next chief minister of Goa would come from the Bhandari Samaj.
