Goan folk group performs at Tunisia


In an attempt to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Goa a dance troupe Mando Mogi Goa, under the leadership of Pervis Gomes were recently invited to perform at Tunisia for the India/Tunisia economic and cultural programme.

The group performed various the folk dance forms like dekhni, fugdi, mando, dallo, and others. The event was inaugurated at the hands of the ambassador of India in Tunisia, Prashant Pise and head of chancery of Indian embassy in Tunisia, Raja Bala.

Pise spoke about cultural exchanges and the connection between Indians and Tunis. The highlight of the programme was the cultural fusion by Tunisian and South Indian groups.

On the concluding day the secretary of state to the minister for foreign affairs in charge of economic diplomacy, Hatem Ferjani was the chief guest at the ITEC day held at Sheraton Tunis Hotel.
