A one-of-its-kind musical comedy, ‘Fanney Khan’ is a story about a father, played by Anil Kapoor, who wishes to fulfil his daughter’s dream of becoming a singer. The film also showcases Aishwarya Rai Bachchan playing a singing sensation and Rajkummar Rao portraying the love interest of Aishwarya in the film, besides Divya Dutta.
Director of the film Atul Manjrekar speaking to NT BUZZ says: “The film is about a common man and his aspirations. A man who lives in a chawl in Mumbai, and Ajay Chodankar along with his team has portrayed that through their production design. There’s a saying that ‘God lies in details’…and they have made it true. They’ve been like partners…collaborators on this film. They have helped me decide the vision and look of the film.”
Ajay who has worked on over 100 ad films and on Star Wars tells us that each project is a different experience for him. “This film is very realistic. From the chawl that Anil Kapoor lives in and the detailing we worked on, to the canteen in the industrial area, most of this film has been shot in real locations, unlike many commercial Bollywood films. Thus the film gives us a real picture and that’s the difference that can be seen on screen, and should be felt in the audience,” he says.
