VASCO: Verna police have cracked a case of house burglary which was reported at Utorda in November, 2009.
According to police, the house belonging to Ms Eslinda Braganza, from Gabriel Cruz Wado, Utorda was burgled and valuables worth ` 1.60 lakh were reported missing.
In her complaint to the Verna police, Ms Braganza had stated that some unknown culprits effected entry into the kitchen by removing the roof tiles and decamped with gold ornaments and cash, totally worth ` 1.60 lakh.
Police had registered the offence under Sections 457 and 380 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Verna police on a tip-off sent a team to Yellapur in Karnataka in search of the accused involved in the crime. Police sub-inspector, Mr Abhishek Gomes along with other police personnel kept a track on the movements of the accused, Agnel Salgatti (26), a native of Karnataka and nabbed him there.
Police informed that the accused has confessed to the crime. He was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Vasco and remanded to five days police custody.
PSI, Mr Abhishek Gomes is investigating the case under the supervision of PI, Mr Jivba Dalvi.
