Time to preserve natural beauty of Bicholim, says Wagh

BICHOLIM: MLA, Mr Vishnu Wagh, who is also the chairman of Kala Academy, urged the people of Bicholim to maintain the cultural heritage of Bicholim.

Mr Wagh was speaking as the chief guest at the felicitation function of Bicholim MLA, Mr Naresh Sawal, at Sal village in Bicholim taluka. Senior journalist, Mr Prabhakar Dhage, Goa state Shiv Sena chief, Mr Ramesh Naik, BMC councillors, Mr Shahikant Naik-Halarnakar, Mr Ajit Birje, Mr Satish Gaonkar, Mr Abhijeet Naik, Mr  Bhagwan Harmalkar and mahila front chief, Ms Vidya Parab were present on the dais. Mr Devu Pal presided over the function.

Speaking further Mr Wagh said that it is high time to fight to preserve the natural resources and natural beauty spots, not only in Bicholim, but also in other parts of the state.

He said, "Bicholim taluka has great historic relevance as even Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had renovated the Shri Saptkoteshwar temple at Narva. He said further that the beauty of Bicholim town has been destroyed due to excavation of iron ore and the whole surrounding environment has become polluted. Taking this view into consideration people of Bicholim should unitedly fight for the cause of saving this historic town and its natural resources and beauty.

Mr Wagh applauded the dedication of Mr Sawal and assured that he would extent his cooperation to Mr Sawal for development of Bicholim constituency and enrichment of art and cultural and traditional heritage of Bicholim.

Mr Ramesh Naik, Mr Sheikh Abdul Hamid Salaskar, Mr Rajendra Kadkade, Mr Abhijeet Naik and Ms Vidya Parab also spoke on the occasion and congratulated Mr Sawal on his success.

Mr Sawal said that he would work hard with consistency and devotion to fulfill the assurances he has given during election and further added that it is his dream to develop a clean and beautiful Bicholim town and to achieve overall development of villages in Bicholim constituency.

Mr Wagh too was honoured at the hands of Mr Sawal.
