PONDA: Ponda police arrested three more persons -- Jabir Khan, 25, Abdul Karim, 24, and Asif Khan, 27, all from Gogol, Margao, on Friday, in connection with the theft of raw sugar last month. Police had earlier arrested three accused in the same case.

PI, Mr C L Patil said these three accused had holed up in the neighbouring state assuming that the other accused who were arrested earlier, were released on bail and that now they would not be caught, they returned to Goa on Thursday.
“Police had kept a track of their movements and finally when we learnt that they are at Dharmapur, we arrested them,” PI added.
He also informed that other accused in the case who are still at large would soon be arrested.
It may be recalled that a truck carrying 27 tonnes of raw sugar from MPT to Karnataka was stopped at Baitekol and the driver and the cleaner were taken to an isolated place at Canacona. The loaded truck was then taken to Usgao to unloaded the sugar.
