Thackeray’s ashes in state

VASCO: The ashes (asthi-kalash) of the Shiv Sena chief, late Balasaheb Thackeray, were flown to Goa from Mumbai by the executive members of Shiv Sena, late on Tuesday evening.

The Shiv Sena Goa chief, Mr Ramesh Naik and Shiv Sena Goa state public relation officer, Mr Milind Tulaskar, brought the asthi kalash to Goa from Mumbai on Tuesday evening.

A large number of Shiv Sena supporters across the state gathered at the domestic arrival terminal of Dabolim airport to receive the ashes. The supporters shouted slogans on the arrival of the
asthi kalash.

The Shiv Sena leaders in Mumbai decided to allow workers across the country to take asthi kalash to their respective states since most of the Shiv Sainiks were disappointed that they could not attend the funeral of the departed Sena chief on Sunday evening.

Speaking to the media at Dabolim airport, the Shiv Sena leaders from the state, informed that the asthi kalash of late Balasaheb Thackery would be kept for the workers and people in the state to pay final respect in Margao at Lingayat Hall and at T B Cunha Hall in Panaji on November 21 and 22, respectively, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A condolence meet would also be held at 10 a.m. on November 22, at T B Cunha Hall in Panaji.

On November 23, the asthi kalash will be taken to the holy spring at Aravalem in Sanquelim by the Shiv Sena leaders for immersion.
