PANAJI: The installation ceremony of the Student Council of DM’s Higher Secondary School was held at the HSS Indoor Complex, Assagao on July 21 by lighting the traditional lamp at the hands of Chief Guest Prof Allan Abreo, Vice Principal of GVM College of Education, Ponda and other dignitaries.

The dignitaries who were present on the dais were the Chief Guest Prof Allan Abreo, Guest of Honour Mr Pandurang Sawant, Principal Mr B D Pandit, Secretary of Dnyanprassarak Mandal Mr Jaiprakash Parkar, Vice Principal of Vocational stream Mr Shamsunder Kauthankar, Chairman of Student Council Mr Deepak Karmalkar and General secretary
Anmol Mhapsekar.

While speaking at the function on the theme ‘Leadership’, Prof Allan Abreo emphasized that a good leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way. Prof Allan Abreo highlighted the qualities of a good leader and urged the young learners to believe in themselves and develop a positive attitude of mind. He kept the audience spellbound by a melodious song which summed up ‘optimism’.

The guest of honour and the member of the Dnyanprassarak Mandal, Mr Pandurang Sawant spoke on leadership qualities.

Earlier, Ms Siddhi Dawre presented the welcome song. Principal Mr B D Pandit welcome the gathering and said that a good leader is one who leads the people in a proper direction.

Mr Vedang Verlekar introduced the chief guest and Mr Shreyash Kavlekar introduced the general secretary.

The chairman of the student council Mr Deepak Karmalkar administered the oath of office to the general secretary, Mr Anmol Mhapsekar. Later the oath of office was administered to the members of the students’ council. The programme was compered by Ms Nitisha Pandit and Ms Daniella D’Souza.

Finally General Secretary Mr Mhapsekar proposed the
vote of thanks.
