Students should set high goals in life: Patnekar

BICHOLIM: The Latambarsem zilla panchayat member, Ms Shilpa Naik said that she would take the initiative for undertaking development works in all villages of Latambarsem ZP constituency, without any discrimination and that the ZP fund would be properly utilised for this purpose.

Ms Naik was speaking as the chief guest at the function organised to lay the foundation stone for the community hall at Shri Mauli Devasthan, Mencurem, in Bicholim taluka.

Bicholim MLA, Mr Rajesh Patnekar presided over the function. The Mencurem sarpanch Mr Nakul Gaonkar and other panchayat members were also present on the occasion.

Ms Naik informed the gathering that the community hall for Mauli devasthan would be built at an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakh. She urged the villagers to cooperate with her for undertaking development task
in their villages.

Mr Patnekar said that he would make all efforts to fulfil the demands of the villagers and sort out their problems as regards providing different facilities through government schemes and programmes.

Mr Patnekar asked the villagers, especially the youth to go for higher education in order to developing their career. The students should set high goals in life, he said further.

He said, "The unemployed youth should switch to self employment and should take initiative in starting their own business and small scale industries, by availing loan facilities available through different schemes which are being implemented by the government."

The sarpanch Mr Gaonkar welcomed the guests and the gathering.

Later another function to inaugurate the beautification work at Mencurem was also held, where Ms Naik inaugurated the same.

A project to fix tiles around a small temple at Mencurem at an estimated cost of Rs 2 lakh, has been undertaken and the funds from the ZP fund scheme would be used for this, Ms Naik.
