MARGAO: As many as 180 Bharat scouts and guides from 18 schools of Salcette taluka converged at Majorda for a 3-day patrol leaders leadership camp, which was coordinated by the district commissioner, Mr Mario Pereira, secretary, Ms Regina Faleiro, guides captain, Rita, organising secretary, Mr Russel Coutinho, treasurer, Mr Mariano Valadares, joint secretaries, Ms Bertyle, Ms Valanka and
Mr Vishal.
As part of the camp the Salcette Bharat scouts and guides in collaboration with Cansaulim health centre and Goa Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abhiyan organised a plastic drive and a talk on anti malaria and H1N1 by Dr Lyzette and other staff of PHC, Cansaulim. Ms Nelly Rodrigues, president of Salcette Bharat scouts and guides welcomed the gathering.
The chief guest, Ms Visitation D’Silva, sarpanch of the village called upon students to imbibe leadership skills and draw maximum benefits from the camp. The guides captain Rita compered the programme. Vice president Ms Sally Coutinho gave an interesting session on bio-diversity followed by a poster competition and 34 groups presented outstanding charts which were displayed for the villagers. Fr Urbano Menezes attended the camp fire as chief guest.
At the valedictory function Ms Nelly Rodrigues congratulated all the teachers to make the camp a success and later gave away prizes. Ms Bertyle Rodrigues, Mr Mariano Valadares, Mr Mario Pereira, Mr Russel Coutinho also spoke on the occasion.
