BICHOLIM: Mr Mohan Tendulkar, an agricultural resource person, has said that the use of natural compost manure can boost the farm produce and therefore, there is need of laying emphasis on adopting such methods instead of making use of chemical fertilizers.
Mr Tendulkar was speaking as the chief guest at the farmers’ meet held at Hirabai Zantye Memorial Hall at Bicholim. The meet was organised by Bharat Swabhiman Kisan panchayat, Bicholim taluka.
Ms Shipla Jagnnath Bhosale, advocate Ajeetsingh Rane, Mr Uddhav Kashalikar, Mr Narayan Chari, Mr Kmalesh Bandekar, Mr Sandesh Barajankar and Mr Kamalakant Tari were present on the dais.
“The farmers should take keen interest in modern methods of farming; however, they should use compost manure which gives long time effect by maintaining and enriching the fertility of soil,” said Mr Tendulkar.
Ms Bhosale, resource person, spoke on the protection of traditional seeds and its use. Mr Rane spoke on problems of farmers and solutions for them.
The farmers also participated in the discussion held. Mr Kashalikar welcomed the guests and the resource personnel while Mr Ajeet Prabhagaonkar and Mr Tulshidas Sawant introduced the guests. Mr Kamalesh Bandekar proposed the vote of thanks. Around 150 farmers from Bicholim taluka participated in the meet.
