State to study impact of petro price hike

PANAJI: The Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat has said that his government would study the situation arising after the increase of prices of petroleum products, including liquefied petroleum gas and take appropriate decision on the matter.

Responding to a query from reporters, while briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting on Friday, on whether his government would go by the advice of the central government to reduce sales tax/value added tax on petroleum products following increase in their prices, Mr Kamat said that he would examine the issue before taking any decision. He also said that the tax rate in Goa were among the lowest in the country.
