The decision was taken the special meeting of the council which was held on Friday.

Earlier, majority of the councilors agreed to auction the stalls and the shops in order to stop the corruption while allocating the stalls and shops as alleged by some quarters.

Charges for the stalls for about 10-days during the Saptah fair have been hiked to ` 600 from the
earlier ` 300.

The forms available for the installation of shops and stalls will be charged `100 each from `10, subsequently providing revenue to the municipality.

The MMC has also decided to donate `50,000 to Shree Damodar Bhajani Saptah Celebration Committee.

The issue pertaining to the allocation of shops and establishments on lease to the non-resident Goans was deferred by the council.

The former MMC chairperson, Mr Manish Arolkar has raised objection to give permission to the defaulter while allocating permission to erect pandal outside Shree Damodar temple which is meant for
publicity purpose.
