MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council will file an affidavit before the High Court on September 30 giving details on what has been done till now as far as the management of the garbage at the Sonsoddo dump was concerned, informed municipality sources on Wednesday.

The affidavit, they said was in line with the court directions that the status of the dump be put before them and is part of the writ petition filed by one of the parties that was handling the dump earlier before a divisional bench.

At present the Sonsoddo dump is being managed by Fomento Corporation after being awarded the tender by a consultant appointed by the high powered committee headed by the Chief Minister.

According to municipality sources the concession agreement is still being vetted by the MMC’s legal consultant and the pre bid meeting to appoint a consultant to oversee the construction of the garbage disposal plant would happen "very soon."

Four persons have expressed their interests to be consultants including the previous consultant who had appointed Fomento, Mr P V Asnani and the rivals of Fomento, M/S Ramky.
