MARGAO: Flaying the statement made by the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar that government job aspirants should answer written test in Konkani or Marathi, MP, Mr Francisco Sardinha on Thursday said,
“We wanted maximum jobs should be bagged by Goans irrespective of whether he speaks or writes Konkani, Marathi or English. We don’t mind the government insisting for oral test in Konkani or Marathi,’’ he said
Speaking to media after the review meeting of the ongoing MPLADS works in South Goa, Mr Sardinha cited examples of how jobs in the Post and Telegraph offices went to people from Maharashtra as the test was given in Marathi and many Goans were deprived of the jobs.
“The sons of the soil were deprived of the jobs in Goa because of such criteria,” he said adding that it will also create fears in the mind of job seekers. “After discussing with the central ministry I had demanded that 55 per cent of the jobs specially in the class 3 and 4 should be given to the sons of the soil,’’ he informed adding that, as a MP he will fight for such right. Mr Sardinha stated that people would face problems in answering written test in Konkani. He also said selection of medium of instruction should be the priority of parents.
Commenting on completion of the 100 days of BJP rule in the state, the Congress MP Mr Sardinha stated that in these 100 days the crime graph has risen. Meanwhile, the MP disclosed that it was decided in the meeting to give laptops, projectors, computers and water filters to the schools of South Goa.
