PANAJI:  The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has forwarded a proposal to the government as regards extending facility of complete recheck of the answers papers related to SSC and HSSC Board examinations, if the candidates apply for the same.

Confirming about such a proposal being moved to the government,  GBSHSE sources said that if the government gives a green signal to the proposal, the said facility could be extended from March 2011 Board examinations.
Till date, the Goa Board was only facilitating recounting of marks of the previously corrected answer papers, and not providing facility of re-checking the answer papers.
The decision comes in the wake of repeated requests from parents and students that an opportunity should be given to the candidates appearing for Board examinations, wherein their entire answer papers would undergo re-check.
The GBSHSE sources maintained that if such an opportunity is provided to the candidates, then there would be no doubt left in their minds as regards the examiners/ moderators doing injustice to them while correcting particular papers.
It was further informed that the Goa Board is presently working out the modalities of this facility, including whether to allow the students and their parents to remain present while the answer papers are being checked or not.
Maintaining that this proposal will increase the responsibility on the examiners/ moderators as regards checking the answer papers, the Goa Board sources said that additional workforce would be required to implement the proposal.
“We therefore would also be presenting our requirement for additional funds before the government,” the sources noted.
