Railway ticket booking counter opened at Raia

MARGAO: The South Goa member of Parliament, Mr Francisco Sardinha, on Saturday, urged the bureaucrats to work sincerely for the people and added that they play a pivotal role in building the relationship with the people.

Mr Sardinha was speaking as the chief guest on the occasion of the inauguration of the railway ticket booking counter at Raia
post office.
The MP said that the sole aim of opening the counter here is to serve the people.
“If any politician does not perform according to the people’s wishes he or she is politically rejected by the people. But the case is not same with the officials. They are here to serve the people for long and therefore their service matters,’’ he maintained.
Mr Sardinha urged the people to avail the benefit of the service. Mr H S Suresh, the chief commercial officer, railways, speaking on the occasion, assured of service to the people.
“Tickets to all destinations will be available at the Raia counter,’’ he disclosed urging people to take benefit of the same.
Mr Charles Lobo, the post master general, stated that both the departments came together to render service to the people. They later thanked the MP for his initiative.
The sarpanch of Raia village, Mr Rumaldo Gonsalves expressed happiness at the setting up of the railway ticket booking counter.
Others who spoke on the occasion includes the SSP of Postal Department, Mr Shiv Ram. Ms Carol D’Souza compared the function.
