MARGAO: The Goa Government Pensioners’ Associ-ation has urged the government to release the arrears of 40 per cent fitment weightage benefit to those who retired between January 1, 1996 and December 31, 2000 as granted by the Goa bench of the Bombay High
Court.
The judgement was delivered in the writ petition last year. To press for this demand, a five-member delegation of the association called on the Chief
Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat.
According to the association, the Chief Minister listened to their grievances in the presence of officials of finance and the accounts department and assured early action on the matter.
The association also submitted a memorandum asking for the enhancement of the amount of Family Medical Allowance from September 1, 2008 sanctioned by the ministry of Personal Public Grievances and Pensions.
The delegation consisted of its president, Mr VV Vernekar SP (Retd) general secretary, Mr Walter Colaco, and Mr Mahesh Bhangui.
