Order banning ore transportation partially modified

MARGAO:  The District Collector, Mr N D Agrawal, on  Thursday, said that  partial modification to the previous order, which had imposed ban  on transportation of the  iron ore, has been made after  hearing the various stakeholders  and their plights.

“Considering the safety of the citizens on high priority, ban was imposed on ore transportation in three talukas of Sanguem, Quepem and Dharbandora.  However, later, sarpanchas of these talukas, transporters, mine owners and other stakeholders  made representations to me. Considering them, partial modification in the earlier order was made. However, conditions  have been imposed on them that  everyday the wheels of the trucks should be cleaned. Roads should be washed  with water and should be free from mud, transportation during the school timings should be stopped, should not carry lumps more than 10 metric tonne,’’ he said while speaking to  this daily.
He also said that the transporters are asked to maintain details of the trips.
He said  they will be put under observation for the 15 days and if found defying the conditions laid down in the orders, they  would be banned from the transportation.
