MAPUSA: The Mapusa police informed that Anushka, alias Sonali Patil, a 28-year-old woman who was married to Anush in May this year, and who was presently residing at Teen Maad-Camurlim, committed suicide on Friday morning, by hanging herself in her office at Mapusa.

According to the police, the deceased was working in an office of the India Farming Association of India, situated at Dattawadi.

Giving more information, police said she came into the office in the morning, and committed suicide by hanging herself from the office ceiling. As the office was locked, the employees tried contacting Sonali, who had the keys, but since there was no response from her, they contacted the owner of the office. Once the incident came to light the police were informed promptly.

Police officials rushed to the scene and PSI, Mr Vijay Rane conducted the panchanama, while SDM Bardez, Mr Dashrath Redkar conducted the inquest panchanama and will be investigating the case, under section 176 of CrPC, since death has occurred within seven years of marriage.

Her husband who works abroad has been informed and is expected to arrive here shortly
