PANAJI: The Crime Branch on Tuesday interrogated Ms Sara, the estranged wife of the former tourism minister, Francisco Xavier Pacheco alias Mickky, in Nadia Torrado’s death case, informed the Superintendent of Police, Mr Atmaram Deshpande.

Briefing the media, Mr Deshpande said the interrogation of Ms Sara was part of the investigation into the case.

He further said the Crime Branch would keep questioning people having links to the former tourism minister, who is the prime suspect in the Nadia death case, and will record their statements until the investigating officer gets satisfactory information in the case.

Replying to a query on whether there is any political pressure on the cops, Mr Deshpande replied in the negative and added that it is pointless to think in that direction. He said that the police are doing their job of tracing Mickky, who is absconding, and added that they need him for custodial interrogation. He said that a lot of progress has been made in the case. Police have so far interrogated many people in connection with the case including Mickky’s business partner, Nadia’s mother, two brothers, Nadia’s husband and a servant.
