Meet held to discuss problems during monsoons in Valpoi

VALPOI: A meeting comprising of all heads of government departments was held recently at forest rest house, Valpoi to review the pre-monsoon works carried out in Sattari taluka.

The meeting which was presided over by Mr Savordekar, was attended by officials of PWD, Electricity and Water Resources department, besides elected representatives of municipality, panchayats and ZP members.

The meeting saw discussion on problems faced by people during monsoons such as frequent disruption of power supply in villages, water supply problem and maintenance of roads. The meeting also focused on drainage issue faced by locals residing in municipal and panchayat areas so that measures could be taken to minimise the possibility of flooding.

The ongoing work of removing the plates of Ganjem bhandara was also reviewed. The meeting was attended by assistant engineer (Electricity), Mr Fernandes, assistant engineer (PWD Roads), Mr Shivkumar, assistant engineer (Water Resource department), Mr Arun Naik, assistant engineer (Water Supply) Mr Shet and junior engineers from these departments.

Valpoi Municipal Council (VMC) vice-chairperson, Mr Umesh Gulelkar, Nagargao ZP member, Mr Humlo Gawde, sarpanch of Guleli, Mr Philip Mascarenhas, sarpanch of Khotode village panchayat, Mr Prakash Gaonkar, Savorde village panchayat, deputy sarpanch, Mr Sayaji Dessai, Nagargao sarpanch, Ms Pallavi Marathe, Guleli deputy sarpanch, Mr Lav Gaonkar and panchas of various panchayats attended the meeting.
