Maintaining tradition should be one’s priority: Lawrenco

MARGAO: Recalling the tradition and culture of each one’s state and maintaining its essence should be the priority of every citizen, said Curtorim MLA, Mr Reginaldo Lawrenco while addressing the Independence Day function, organised by village panchayat of Rachol.

He congratulated Mr Joseph Vaz, sarpanch of Rachol and the panchayat team for organising an elocution competition for students on the occasion, which he said encourages them to be well disciplined leaders of tomorrow. He promised all his assistance for the development of Rachol village into a model village.

Mr Vaz, is one of the dynamic and the competent sarpanchs who can give any subject positive result asserted Mr Vijay Sardessai, general secretary, GPCC who was the guest of honour for the function.

He complimented the sarpanch for doing a lot of social work by implementing various schemes of the state and central government, especially for schedule tribes and weaker section. Fr Eurodino Fernandes, chaplin of Rachol appealed to the people of Rachol to make Rachol a beautiful and a well-developed village as it has historical background.

Mr Vaz appealed to the people for their corporation. He said parents must give enough time to their wards and keep check on their day-to-day activities. "Children are the future of our country and therefore it is the duty of parents, elders, leaders to guide and protect them from evil activities with due concern and also educate them about the historical background of our country at a time of the freedom struggle."
