PANAJI: The Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar on Sunday said that the Laadli Laxmi scheme of the government, which provides an amount of Rs 1 lakh to every Goan girl between the ages of 18 and 40, at the time of her wedding, would be initially implemented in the electoral constituencies of the Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs.
The Chief Minister, speaking during the announcement of election result for the state BJP president, said that however, constituencies of opposition legislators would not be sidelined. "Laadli Laxmi is the flagship programme of the BJP and, therefore, it is fully justified to initially start the implementation of this scheme in the constituencies of the ruling party MLAs," he said.
Speaking further, Mr Parrikar said that Mr Vinay Tendulkar, who has been elected as the new state BJP president, is an important behind-the-curtain party worker. "It was he who had selflessly approached me with his resignation as the cabinet minister during my earlier tenure as the chief minister when a ceiling had come on the strength of the state cabinet and I had to move out one minister," he recalled.
The Chief Minister finally said that his government will run in tune with the party organisation to provide a stable government with commitment towards the betterment of the people.
