Jose Philip tells officers to be courteous to people

MAPUSA: Revenue Minister and state NCP president, Mr Jose Philip D’Souza, who on Wednesday visited the Bardez Collectorate office at Mapusa, asked officers and government employees to be courteous to people and attend to people’s works and solve them at the earliest.

Mr D’Souza, who was upset with complaints from people that staff were rude and sending them back for not bringing required documents told the officers and the employees to give in writing to the people what were the additional documents required which were not produced at that time so that people did not have to repeatedly come for their work.

Earlier, Mr D’Souza was flooded with grievances after his arrival at Mapusa. Many grievances pertaining to corruption in mutation cases, APL and BPL quotas, communidade issues and many other grievances pertaining to revenue department, civil supplies and consumer affairs were placed before him. The minister asked the people to give him in writing so that he could take steps and solve the issue. People also told the minister that many a times mutation cases were getting prolonged as officers were not available due to some other urgent preoccupation; misconducts and irregular functioning of many talathis was also brought to the notice of the minister.

Mr D’Souza said that he would request the Chief Minister to set up a separate cell in the revenue department so that the officers needed to solve cases pertaining to mutation and to ensure that such other necessary works were not disturbed.

Officers, who were present included north Goa Collector, Mr Mihir Vardhan, deputy collector, Mr D Redkar, mamlatdar, Mr G Shankwalkar, other joint mamlatdars, administrator of north zone communidades, Mr N M Gaad and others. Besides NCP office bearers, Mr Surendra Sirsat, Mr Rajan Ghate, Mr Trajano D’Mello, Mr Sheikh Sayeed, Mapusa MLA, Mr Francis D’Souza and Siolim MLA, Mr Dayanand Mandrekar were also present.
