Encourage children to participate in school activities, parents told

PANAJI: The annual general body meeting of Our Lady of Carmel School, Curtorim was held on August 23 in the school hall.

Keynote speaker, Fr Alfred Vaz, catechetical director of Archdiocese of Goa advised the parents on the topic ‘The aim of education’. He urged parents to give their children self esteem, self confidence to participate in school activities as they served as a role model to their children, not to compare their child with other children and also urged the teachers to encourage creativity, and bring out the hidden talents in the children.

Manager and principal, Fr Anthony Rodrigues addressed the gathering of parents and said that this was a growing school and urged the parents to do a more proactive role in activities of the school. Earlier, headmaster, Mr Quintilao Faleiro welcomed the guests and the parents.

Ms Miquelina Dias, secretary of the PTA presented the PTA report on activities carried out by the PTA in the last year. The PTA organised a drama and the proceeds of that were used to make benches, extra classroom partitions, fans. The PTA this year has started work on filtered drinking water project for the students. Meritorious students of SSC - Lianne Moniz, who secured 100/100 in science and 99/100 in math and three others were felicitated jointly by the PTA. Ms Lourdes Fernandes presented the accounts.
