PANAJI: Stating that the state governments all through have supported art and cultural activities all through the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat, said that government would take an decision on the demand for construction of Konkani and Marathi Natya Academy to promote welfare and creative skills of Goan artists.
The Chief Minister said that the contribution of the Goan artists cannot and would not be forgotten by the people of the state and that governments have supported artists over the years and the tradition continued even now and that artists were being quietly helped. He also said that Kala Academy was an institution of repute, whose reputation has improved over the years. He also said that Goan artists have excelled all over.
Stating that government has proposal to build at least one Ravindra Bhavan in each taluka, the Chief Minister said that this would help the artists get a platform to show their talents. He also said that the government would consider the demand for natya academy as per
the priority.
Earlier, Mr Pandurang Dhavlikar (Priol) while moving the resolution made a case for construction of the Natya academy saying that it would provide a platform for large number of artists in the state and help preserve some forms of art.
The premises would also help in holding training camps, workshops etc for the artists, he said.
Mr Dayanand Narvekar (Aldona) said that over the years the performance of dramas has become lesser and that some musical instruments were on the verge of extinction and that it was high time that efforts were made to
save them.
He said that a platform would help the artists in the state to build a career. The resolution was later withdrawn following assurance from the
Chief Minister.
