Churchill calls upon House committee to put in suggestions within 2 weeks

PANAJI: The Public Works Department Minister, Mr Churchill Alemao has called upon the members of the House committee on National Highways to put in their suggestions on the route and other matters within two weeks so that the same could be placed before the officials of the National Highway Authority of India for settlement as regards to the apprehensions among the Goans on widening of roads.

Responding to the issues, especially with regards to irregular water supply, raised by the members of the House during discussion on the demands for the PWD, Mr Alemao told the House that with the completion of ongoing projects to augment the water supply in the state, the problems related to water supply would be solved by December 2010.
He also said that with completion of Assonora and Dabos water projects the state water needs till 2025 would be met, adding that the proposed project to increasing the water treatment from Selaulim by another 100 million litres per day would help the authorities provide water to whole of South Goa throughout the day.
He also said that sewage treatment projects would be taken up in the state under the JICA scheme, even as he said that to prevent accidents and help people, signages would be put across the state. He also said tat roads would be widened to ensure smooth flow of increased vehicular traffic. Earlier, the members of the House while participating in discussion on the demands for the PWD spoke about poor water supply, uneven development, issues relating to the widening of National Highways 17 and 4A passing through the state, sewage and other issues relating to
the PWD department.
