MARGAO: The three individuals, Paul Fernandes (34) of Curtorim, Laxman Lamane (29) resident of Motidongor and Caitan (38), from Maina Waddo, arrested by the Maina-Curtorim police in a case of attempt to murder the owner of a bar, have moved a bail application before the principal district and session judge, Mr U V Bakre, the hearing of which came up on Tuesday, and the matter has been posted for orders on Wednesday.
The public prosecutor, Ms T S Sardinha representing the state opposed the bail application. Mr Rajiv Gomes appeared on behalf of the alleged accused.
It may be recalled that the three who were having a drink in a bar at Maina attempted to commit murder of the bar owner on June 22. The Maina-Curtorim police have booked them under section 307 of IPC. The weapon used in the offence has also been recovered by the police.
Meanwhile, Mr Bakre on Tuesday also heard the argument on the bail application moved by Mohan Chawan, arrested by the Cuncolim police in connection with the murder of Bilma Colaco.
He had moved a bail application for his release and arguments were heard. Public prosecutor Ms T S Sardinha while opposing the bail application argued that the main accused in the murder case, namely Lucky Singh, is still absconding and at large. She pointed out that conspiracy to commit crime was hatched.
After hearing the arguments from the defence as well as the prosecution, Justice Bakre posted the
matters for orders on Wednesday. Mr Anacleto Viegas represented the alleged accused.
