Applications invited for National Disability Awards

PANAJI: The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, government of India is presenting National Awards for the welfare of people with disabilities in the categories which includes, Awards for Best Employees (including self employed) with disabilities including blindness, low vision, leprosy cured,

hearing impairment, locomotor disability, cerebral palsy, mental retardation, mental illness, autism, multiple disability. The award carries Rs 25,000 in cash, a citation, a certificate and a medal.

Award for Best Employer consists of a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a shield, a citation and a certificate and for Best Placement Officer or Persons/Agency Rs 25,000 are given in cash along with a shield, a citation and a certificate.

Awards for Best Individual and also for Best Institution for the cause of persons with disabilities consist of Rs 1,00,000 in cash, a citation and a certificate each.

For Role Model Awards, Rs 50,000 are given in cash along with a citation and a certificate.

Best Applied Research/Innovation/Product Development aimed at improving the life of person with disability; Rs 1,00,000 are given in cash along with a citation, certificate and for Development product aimed at improving the life of person with Disability Rs 50,000 are given in cash besides a citation and a certificate.

Outstanding work in the creation of Barrier-free environment for the people with disabilities award will consist of a citation and a certificate.

Best District in providing Rehabilitation Service, Best Local Level Committee of National Trust and Best State channelising Agency of National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation will given a shield, a citation and a certificate.

Outstanding creative adult persons with disabilities (male) will be given Rs 50,000 in cash, a citation and a certificate.

Best Creative Child with disability Award consists of Rs 25,000, a medal, a citation and a certificate.

The awards will be given away by the President of India on December 3, which is observed as International Day of Disabled Persons.
