Anjuna PI holds meet on security measures at religious places

MAPUSA: In view of increasing incidents of theft reported in many places and as part of its ongoing awareness campaign by the Goa police in this regard, the Anjuna police held a meeting of representatives of all religious places in its jurisdiction.

The meeting that was attended by around 50 representatives of religious places was chaired by Anjuna PI, Mr Manjunath Dessai. Mr Dessai urged the members to take proper precautionary measures in order to prevent thefts at religious places.
He outlined measures such as deployment of private security, restricting entry and exit points, installation of CCTVs, proper illumination around the places, regular collection of cash collected in donation boxes or firmly fitting donation boxes and making them tamper proof, keeping the jewellery in safe lockers and keeping thorough watch on these items when they are removed for festive occasions and such other measures.
He informed the members that Anjuna police were regularly patrolling with three vehicles every night and felt that if religious places had private security deployed at their premises then the police patrol team could also visit them and make sure they are alert. Mr Dessai also suggested a note book to be kept outside the religious places at night so that the police patrol team could sign on the book.
It was also informed to the members that an honorarium of rupees two hundred could also be given per head to private security persons from the village who were deployed by the villagers to guard the religious places. Many suggestions and doubts in the minds of the members that were raised at the meeting were also cleared by Mr Dessai.
