PANAJI: The revolutionary 3G mobile services provided by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited were launched in North Goa by the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat, at a special function held here.
Goa thus became the third city in the Maharashtra-Goa circle of the BSNL to be covered with the 3G services, after Pune and Nasik. The 3G mobile services would be launched in South Goa on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering after formally launching the services, Mr Kamat said that the new services would go a long way in providing better technological help to the people. He also thanked the BSNL for extending the services to Goa.
Mr Shripad Naik, MP expressed happiness over launching of 3G mobile services in North Goa. He said a lot of development was happening in telecom sector. He hoped that the efforts of BSNL to introduce 3G mobile services in Goa will get people’s support.
The Chief General Manager of the BSNL in the Maharashtra-Goa circle, Mr Aloke Kaul said that it was the endeavour of the BSNL to provide better services in the state, even as he said that the services would be improved further. The new technology would help the customers of the BSNL avail services like video calling, high speed internet, mobile TV. BSNL along with MTNL is the only telecom operator providing 3G services in the country, as of now. The GM of BSNL in Goa, Mr G R Ravi gave a brief of the newly launched services.
