2 brothers killed in Ribandar accident

Two brothers, Mr Pritam Gawas (20) and Mr Shivaji Gawas (30) from Dodamarg died on the spot when a speeding tourist bus rammed into their Activa scooter near an ice factory at Ribandar early Monday morning, informed the sub-divisional police officer, Mr Deu Banavalikar.

PANAJI: Two brothers, Mr Pritam Gawas (20) and Mr Shivaji Gawas (30) from Dodamarg died on the spot when a speeding tourist bus rammed into their Activa scooter near an ice factory at Ribandar early Monday morning, informed the sub-divisional police officer, Mr Deu Banavalikar.

Mr Banavalikar informed that the bus bearing registration number, GA-04-T-4546 was proceeding from Ribandar to Panaji. However, when the bus reached near the ice factory it collided with the oncoming Activa scooter (GA-03-9368), killing the duo instantaneously. The brothers were on their way to workplace at Campal.

Both were rushed to the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, where they were pronounced brought dead.

The bus driver, Rajendra Vengurlekar soon fled from the accident site fearing backlash from locals. As the driver failed to surrender himself the Old Goa police have sought cancellation of his driving licence and the bus permit.
