PANAJI: The Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat on Friday informed the House that the government has issued 100 show cause notices to various owners of the plots in industrial estates of the state, who have failed to commence industrial activities on their plots within the stipulated deadline.
Speaking further, the Chief Minister said that in all, 34 plots have been reverted for non-commissioning of projects, while reversion proceedings have been initiated against two plots in Pissurlem industrial estate and one plot at Panchawadi village in Ponda taluka.
Mr Kamat, replying to a related question from the MLA of the Curchorem constituency, Mr Shyam Satardekar said that any industrial unit has to start on such plots within 3 years of their allotment.
“The approval of the high power co-ordination committee for the industrial activity in the industrial estate is valid for only 2 years, and if any activity is not started within two years after receiving such approval, the person has to come back for extension to this approval,” he replied.
The Chief Minister also stated that even though a plot of 2 or 3 lakh sq mts is allotted to an entrepreneur, he may use only 25 to 30 per cent of it and leave the rest for future expansion, or even go for its landscaping.
“I have asked such plots to be identified,” he noted.
It was also informed to the House that while allotting smaller plots to the entrepreneurs, the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industries, and Goa Small Industries Association would be taken into confidence.
Mr Satardekar further pointed out that the land acquired in the Cacoda industrial estate for setting up an Auto Plaza is not divided in plots and allotted to the applicants.
In reply, the Chief Minister said that only 30 to 35 out of the total 60 applicants, whose names are presently before the Cacoda Municipal Council, are genuine and the authenticity of the other applicants has to be ascertained. He requested the Curchorem MLA to help the government in this task.
The Chief Minister also assured the House that there is no proposal about acquiring additional land for setting up auxiliary services for Food Park, at Quitol village in Quepem taluka. “In fact, we have served notices to M/s Betul Hospitality Park Pvt Ltd for not using the existing land,” he concluded.
